The University mall is located north from the city of Tampa borders, on Fowler Avenue. The University Mall covers an area of 1,300,000 square feet. The University mall has over 160 specialty stores and services. There is also a nice food court at the mall. The mall is anchored by Dillard's, Wards, Sears, Burdines, and JC Penney. Other major stores include Spencer Gifts, Foot Locker, Waldenbooks, FYE, Hot Topic, Lane Bryant, and GNC etc. Parking is free at this mall. There is no garage parking available. There are no valet parking services. The mall is open from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on weekdays and Saturday and from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. There were some problems with the security officers overreacting when they saw a kid wearing ‘gang clothes’ and asked him to leave the mall unfairly.
There are 2 floors at the University mall. The mall is entirely enclosed. Being the largest mall in Tampa, the University mall is considered quite expensive. Nevertheless, it is very popular among college students. The mall is not very family friendly, it doesn’t provide strollers or other similar facilities. There is a 16-screen Regal Theater in this mall for those who are tired of shopping. It has larger theatres for new block buster movies and smaller ones for older films.
